MISSION THE SANCTUARY
The Sanctuary is the result of an encounter with one's inner self, a unique moment of inner life. When, in 1989, Michel Domit received an offer to acquire an incredible piece of land in Valle de Bravo, atop a hill overlooking the lake, the Domit Group was going through a difficult financial period. Michel initially rejected the proposal.
However, that night, while meditating, he felt the presence of his father, who had died when he was 12 years old. As he sensed his loving protection, Michel understood the profound message that this man had been unable to give him in life: his mission was to create spaces of harmony and coexistence between humankind and Nature.
Immediately, the image of the mountain dominated his mind. And then he decided: The first step in fulfilling his life's purpose would be to acquire the land he had previously rejected and build a… a sanctuary! Yes, that place would be a global example of healthy coexistence between humans and the environment.
That stroke of intuition, that encounter with himself and his ancestors, combined with the heart of the mountain and the essence of the land, founded El Santuario, a hotel in Valle de Bravo that halts the frenetic pace of life and allows guests to disconnect from the outside world. By re-establishing communication with their inner selves, travelers can rediscover all that their being truly needs, reconnect with nature, and even work with greater productivity and creativity, if that is the reason for their stay.
If we add to these spiritual nourishments the fact that the cuisine, the service, and all the hotel's spaces and amenities also restore, strengthen, and care for the guest's physical health, we can confirm that Michel has honored his father's legacy and allows us to join him and personally experience perfect harmony, making the so-called "new normal" after the Covid-19 pandemic the beginning of a better life, greater planetary awareness, and a more humane, yet exquisite, sumptuous, and fulfilling coexistence.
